An old favourite project file which gets overlooked because there are so many new ones to play with.

Perhaps I should change the colour scheme so it becomes new again.

Wedding Fans 55, 56 from Virtual Quilter

Notice the way the Wedding Ring blocks have rounded out the fan blocks … very interesting.

In the second design I love the tips of the fan blocks showing around the edge, caused by all the blocks being on point.

The title of today’s post indicates that it is a new project file. It is not new, and a couple of designs were shared early this century!

I have actually made a quilt using some of these fan designs, but still love playing with the designs, colours and placement of teh blocks in different layouts.

Fans for Midori and Madame from Virtual Quilter

Many years ago I started drawing fan blocks, and decided to make a fan quilt, and couldn’t decide if I should use pretty florals or Japanese style fabrics. The solution was to draw a lady holding a fan, though she finished up with an umbrella instead.

However, I went shopping and found a lovely collection of Japanese fabrics, so had to change the overall look of the quilt, especially the centre block

All of the design work was done on paper, with pencil so I could rub out most of it from time to time, but eventually the quilt ...
